They didn't close this 1 like the other 10 gazillion GW is dead topics yet?
It would have been a good topic when the OP would have discussed the functionality/viability of modded graphics in PvP/PvE, otherwise its just a dead horse like so many others. Saying goodbye to people he doesnt know and who don't care about him leaving.

Unless the DPS wants to be very, very careful and slow, you're going to have a hard time in Kara without KTM. If your threat goes over the tank even once and you haven't done it numerous times, your whole parties gonna die.

Well done, you said it before anyone else could tell you to. Even if you spelt "play" wrong.

I don't understand why people feel the need to announce to the world that GW is dying...it's only dying for you if you're bored of it. I'm sure as hell not bored of GW yet, so the game is still very much alive for me, and probably still would be if the population vastly declined since we all know heroes are better.

KTM? I do not know a single mod (nor inscription or insignia) called like that. Kara? I guess its a place somewhere
PDS in that context I also do not understand, care to explain this? Using too much Jargon is never helping anyone.

Correction: First it was the modders, then it was the dupers. People were modding this game long before the reconnect feature was even added let alone used for duping. Not many people, because hardly anyone knew of texmod.

No more *unique* armors or items. You can have anything you want!
Funny, I thought I was playing this game to like... fight enemies, follow a story, fight other people in arenas, explore lands. I think you want this game, honestly.

Why does someone else seeing something they want, while not altering your gameplay, affect you at all?

He's not talking about GW, he's talking about WoW.

I won't say that modding is making the game die for me...I would say a mix of hm/bots/dupers and the fact that everything is so incredibly easy to get now that it isn't worth it.
Of course, this is a pve stand point...but, I know hundreds of people who have quit in the recent months, and I see guildwars very much of dying soon enough. I'm hoping GW:EN and guildwars 2 will switch things up a bit and make it more enjoyable again.

Heres an idea.Suck it up and realise that you got most likely over 10 times more playing value out of Guild Wars than any other average game.

Stop whinging, harden up, put up with how things are or find something else to do. No one forces the modders to mod, and no one is forcing you yourself to play.

This thread proves one thing to me....how wrong the OP is....there's been what 2 maybe 3 people who are defending him....and not even completely.

The game is far from dying.

/hopes the door not only hits his ass on the way out but hits it so hard he gets knocked into a busy street filled with fast moving cars.

Good riddance.

I'm one of those weird people that take the journey for the journey's sake, not always with a goal in mind, but that's beside the point right now. The reason you do something even when you can get it instantly is this: it just feels better.
In real world terms its like the difference between instant mashed potatoes and a dish of potatoes you made by hand. Because you invested time and effort into getting it right, it tastes better.
In game terms imagine someone duped an item from a buddy, so they now have a tormented item. You put a lot of effort into getting yours, either from working to earn gold or by getting the jewels yourself. So:
A)Earn the gold yourself
B)Get the jewels personally
C)Dupe the item

Earning the gold will take a while, but at the very least you'll get good at one area. Or you could be a trader, or perform some other service for money.
Option B is to get the jewels yourself, which will take a bit more skill than a lot of players have(haven't been to DoA so wouldn't know how easy/hard it is now). Or you can dupe the item.

When the fascination of having your new skin is over, the weapon will gather pixelated dust in your inventory. To a duper it will just take up space. But when anyone else looks at it in their inventory, they see the story behind it. They'll see the skills they learned, the neat little tricks when they farmed gold or jewels. They'll see the people they met in the market place through trading, and guild members that lent a hand here and there. They'll remember everything they did to get that prized pixelated package.

I have very few rare skins, most just don't appeal to me. But the ones I have are from my Guild leader, and that's why I value them, because they remind me of all the times we went through missions together and all the effort we put into our guild.
What I'm trying to get at is this: modders don't affect anybody else, as others have mentioned. Even the pvp things wouldn't change much, as when you went up against a skilled team it would simply be giving yourself a bad handicap. Dupers are being dealt with right now, but even if they were to flood the market with items just like yours, it shouldn't detract from the personal value of your weapon. You are letting others dictate what you want by saying you only want it because nobody else has it. Why not set a goal because its what you want, rather than a challenge someone else has set? Why not go after skins you like because they look nice, rather than because they are rare?
And to answer your last question: Why do I strive for things if I could get it instantly? Because I'd be bored to death otherwise. Easy does not necessarily mean entertaining or worthwhile.

But that's just my two cents

The mods are pointless. They can't even properly be called mods. It's simply a client side texture editor and nothing more. As for the price of golds and such what exactly is the OP complaining about? So things got cheap big deal. Inflation was a problem anyway. Now prices are more reasonably scaled to the amount of gold a player can realistically come across during the course of gameplay. Those of us who farm are still making gold hand over fist just in smaller quantities than before. So instead of banking on one really rare skinned item to sell for 100K + ecto we get that equivalent amount in several trades which, thanks to Hardmode, are easier to come buy if you have the right builds.

GG Sli Ander, your post wins the thread. And bye bye ibex333, I couldn't give a flying f*ck about you leaving. This game is still alive for me. Why? Maybe because I play it for the right reasons. Yeah sure, now you can jump in and say: "Oh, but everyone has their own reasons. You can't say what's right, what's not"
True, I can't. But if someone plays the game like ibex333, then intrest will soon vanish and it will only leave bad taste in your mouth. Some people enjoy the game, play it for the fun, not to be uber 1337 and then cry when they become common because others got the same stuff. So... in one word...KKTNXBAIBAI

How come I still excited about GW:EN coming.Just like others said you play too much especially to dress your toon not to play the game.

Hmm about the dupe I don't think that will effect anybody game play since there's a cap on weapons and armor.Only the rare trader got screwed which exclude me.

Only modding I ever try is modding Team Fortress sniper rifle's laser dot from a basic red dot to Doraemon(Japanese manga character) head just for laugh. But my aim got better unexpected thanks to the new laser dot that brighter.

This is just a flaming thread spreading anti-GW propoganda.

I would hazard a guess that GW is the 2nd most popular MMORPG on the planet.. so once all those below GW in the ratings are dead.. perhaps this thread would have some relevence. Other than that.. its just flames..

Avoid !

I quit the game months ago for WoW, but I'm coming back alittle bit in Sept to explore around GW:EN to see what it offers.

To my surprise when I load Guru again all I see are threads about mods and duping >_<
